Sierra Brooks takes command at The Sally
Sierra Brooks
ORMOND BEACH, Fla. (Jan. 15, 2015) — Sierra Brooks, a 16-year-old from Lake Mary, Fla., leads by three shots halfway through the Women's South Atlantic Amateur, but no three-shot lead is safe.
The tournament's first-round leader, Louisville redshirt junior Katie Mitchell, led by three on Wednesday with a 69 but lost ground on Friday shooting 77. She still sits in second place ahead of four players at 147, including last week's Harder Hall winner Nelly Korda.
The leader Brooks, who has carded rounds of 72 and 71, was once committed to the University of Florida, but after winning the AJGA Polo Golf Junior Classic last November, she recanted her decision.
Third-round play of "The Sally" will pick up Friday at Oceanside Country Club with the tournament concluding Saturday.
