Discovery Bay Golf Club in Hong Kong will host the Asia-Pacific Senior Amateur Championship beginning Wednesday and concluding Friday in a 54-hole tournament.

The event will also include a team event, pinning countries such as New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong, and others against each other.

John Ambridge, of England, is the defending individual champion while New Zealand will look to defend its team title after they beat Australia last year.

At Cedar Creek Golf Club in San Antonio, the San Antonio Open will kick off next Saturday. The 36-hole event, which benefits the Texas Research Society on Alcoholism, is open to both professionals and amateurs.

Proceeds from the tournament have helped to fund 15 medical, dental, and graduate student fellowships ($5,000 each) at Texas universities.
