Reese Ramsey has three-shot lead at Texas Cup

FORT WORTH, Tex. (Nov. 1, 2014) — Reese
Ramsey of Austin shot three-under-par 68 in the
first round of the Texas Cup Invitational on
Saturday and has a three-stroke lead at Mira
Vista Country Club.
Ramsey, who started on hole No. 10, made
birdie on three consecutive holes to finish his
front-nine, and birdied two more holes on his
back nine. Ramsey finished his round with a
birdie on No. 9, a 389-yard par-4 that had its
bunkers recently redone.
The Texas Cup Invitational is presented by
Veritex Bank and features 78 golfers and is the
final Major Tournament on the Legends Junior
Tour’s schedule. Mira Vista Country Club is the
host of this 36-hole event for the second-straight
year. The Texas Cup features past champions
like Rickie Fowler, Chandler Phillips and Braden
Bailey.
Mark Reppe of Dallas and Maxwell Miller of
College Station are both tied for second heading
into the final round. Reppe and Miller shot even-
par 71.
Rishi Kejriwal, Colin Hamilton, Cole Hammer,
Braden Bailey, Crosby Guercio and Turner
MacLean all shot 1-over-par 72 in their first
rounds and are tied for fourth. Defending
champion Bailey made three birdies in his first
round, including the par-4 ninth hole.
Three eagles were made in the first round along
with 135 birdies produced by this stellar field.
Miller recorded an eagle on the par-4 13th hole,
which played as the fifth-toughest hole on
Saturday.
Ryan Grider, Garrett Reband and Blaine Hale Jr.
are the top three in the Boys 15-18 CGC Points
List, which is the annual award for the top junior
golfer in the state of Texas.

at 8 am
