USGA Senior Amateur Championship

The United States Golf Association is now accepting entries for the 2005 USGA Senior Amateur Championship scheduled from Sept. 17-22 at The Farm Golf Club in Rocky Face, Georgia. Entries for the 2005 USGA Senior Amateur Championship must be received by the United States Golf Association by July 27. The cost is $100 to enter.
First conducted in 1955, the championship is for amateurs age 55 or older by September 17, 2005, with a handicap index not exceeding 7.4.
To obtain an entry application, call the USGA at (908) 234-2300 or enter online at the USGA web site, www.usga.org. Eighteen-hole qualifiers will be held nationwide from August 10-23, with spots awarded at each site to fill the championship field of 156 players. The championship format will be two rounds of stroke play, with the low 64 scorers advancing to single-elimination match play. Entrants may select one of the 52 qualifying sites.
The Senior Amateur is on of 13 national championships conducted annually by the USGA, 10 of which are strictly for amateurs.
