Cooper, Lyons capture Louisiana Senior Four-Ball
SHREVEPORT, La. (Oct. 5, 2014) — Bob Cooper of Monroe and Eddie Lyons of Shreveport fired a ten-under par 61 on Sunday at East Ridge Country Club in Shreveport to win the 2014 Louisiana Senior Four-Ball Championship.

Cooper and Lyons had a one shot lead over Page Breaux of St. Gabriel and Bill Land of Lafayette to start the day after shooting a four-under par 67 on Saturday. Cooper and Lyons finished the championship at 14-under par 128, besting runner-up finishers Bob Birtman of Benton and Mike Morgan of Shreveport by six strokes.

This is the first LGA Senior 4-Ball Championship for the dynamic duo of Cooper and Lyons who have each won multiple LGA Championships in the past.

Cooper and Lyons’s amazing final round included eleven birdies, six pars, and one bogey. They played the par 3s at two-under par, the par 4s at five-under par, and the par 5s at three-under par.

They began their final round with three straight birdies. Lyons made a par at the par 4 4th hole, and he added another birdie at the par 3 5th hole. Cooper provided a par at the par 4 6th hole and Lyons made another birdie on the par 5 7th. Cooper made two consecutive pars on holes #8 and #9, and the team made the turn at five-under par 30.

The “birdie fest” continued on the back nine, as Cooper birdied the par 4 10th hole, Lyons the par 4 5th, and Cooper again on the par 4 12th. Cooper made a par on the par 3 13th, and Lyons followed that up with a birdie on the par 5 14th, a par on the par 4 15th, and another birdie on the par 4 16th.

Cooper made another birdie at the par 3 17th hole, and they came to the 18th tee with a chance to shoot 59 with another birdie. However, both competitors stumbled there and the score that counted for the team was a bogey 5, made by Lyons. Their 31 on the back nine brought their 2nd round total to ten-under par 61.
