Three share lead early at South Carolina Mid-Amateur
CLINTON, S.C. (Oct. 3, 2014) — Doug Ramey, Kevin Roberts and J.D. Hoft (pictured) all shot rounds of one-under par 71 to share the first round lead in the South Carolina Mid-Amateur Championship at Musgrove Mill Golf Club.

With fast greens and threatening weather conditions, the field played to an average score of 81.6 for the day.

Alone in fourth place is Columbia’s Robert Dargan at even par 72. Tied for fifth at 73 are three players and include Michael Meredith, Richard Cox and Jeremy Revis.

Defending Champion Lee Palms is four shots back after representing South Carolina in the USGA Team Matches in French Lick, Ind. Tuesday through Thursday.

Second round play will begin on Saturday morning beginning at 8.00 a.m. with play off of #1 & #10 tees.

What has become known as the "Working Man's" tournament, this Championship is for individuals 25 years of age and older. A 54 hole event that is cut to the low 60 and ties for the final round, the Mid Amateur Championship has become a true test for the true amateur golfer.
