Alex Hoffman takes lead halfway through Middle Atlantic Amateur

ROCKVILLE, Md. (Oct. 3, 2014) — Halfway through the Middle Atlantic Amateur Championship, former University of Memphis golfer Alex Hoffman has taken control of a slim lead after his second straight round of 69.
Hoffman trailed opening-round leader Bennett Buch, a high school junior from the Baltimore area, by three shots heading into Friday's round. Buch shot 74 in the second round and sits two shots back in a three-way tie for fourth.
Sitting in second place are Michael McGowan and Ben Warnquist. McGowan has gone 67-72 while Warnquist has shot rounds of 71-68.
There are 36 more holes to be played over the weekend at Manor Country Club in Rockville, Md. in this grueling 72-hole championship.
