Walla Walla, WA (July 14, 2006) – With 90 degree heat, Walla Walla, WA. brought a pair of champions for the 105th PNGA Women’s Amateur Championship and 5th Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship.

Allison Goodman of San Diego, CA.., came from behind to defeat the leader of this past week’s tournament, Shannon Yocum of Palos Verdes Estates, CA. 5 and 4. Goodman and Yocum are teammates on the University of California – Berkely golf team. This is Goodman’s first PNGA Women’s Amateur Championship.

MID-AMATEUR: On the 17th hole, the 35th hole of the day, Alison Murdoch of Victoria, BC defeated defending champion Kareen Markle 2 and 1. Throughout the day there was never a comfortable time that Murdoch felt the match was in her hands. Only at one point, in the first 18 holes, did she escalate to 3up. When asked about the challenges she faced, Murdoch said, “It was hot, but I didn't feel too much fatigue until I reached the 17th tee ground. It was just step by step and shot by shot all day. Trying to keep the mental side of the game was also a challenge." Murdoch is the 5th Annual Pacific Northwest Women’s Mid-Amateur Champion.
