Taylor Davis leads by two at Tennessee State Amateur
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (August 6, 2014) — Taylor Davis of Franklin, Tenn. entered Wednesday's second round at the Tennessee State Amateur trailing Trey Tarpley by two shots. Thanks to Tarpley's 73 — and Davis' 69 — Davis now holds a two-stroke advantage halfway through the event.
Davis, a junior at Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn., made three bogeys in a string of four holes to finish the front nine but came back with three birdies and six pars on the back side.
Tarpley, a senior at Austin Peay University, is the only other player in the field currently under par as he trails Davis by two shots.
Three players, including Jack Smith, Davis Shore, and Taylor Lewis are in a tie for third place at even par, three shots back with two rounds to go at Memphis Country Club.
