Tennessee Match Play: Semis/Finals set for Sunday
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (July 26, 2014) -- Number one seed Brendon Caballero (UT-Martin) has played brilliantly and will face off against number five seed Michael Monroe (U of Tennessee) in Sunday’s first semi-final match. Caballero won both his Round of 16 match and quarterfinal match with 5 and 3 victories.
The number two seed Zac Stolz (UT-Chattanooga) has also advanced and will face number eleven seed Matt Cooper (Memphis, TN) in Sunday’s second semi-final match. The finals of the Tennessee Match Play Championship will follow in the afternoon.
SENIOR DIVISION
Senior Match Play Championship number one seed Tim Jackson (Germantown, TN) will face off against Tony Green (Kingsport, TN). The two championship caliber players have seen great success in amateur golf throughout the years and will vie for another amateur championship. This being Tim Jackson’s first year as a Senior Player (age 55+) Jackson hopes to start one for one in Tennessee Senior Championships.

ABOUT THE Tennessee Match Play
This match play event adopts the format used by the
PGA Tour for the World
Golf Championships Match Play tournament. Under
this format, a field of 64
players will be divided into 16 groups of four players
each. Each group will play
a round-robin format with each competitor playing
three matches within their
group. A player will receive one point for a win, a
half point for a tie, and each
group’s winner will advance to the round of 16.
Applications are open to
amateurs who possess an active USGA/GHIN
Handicap Index of 8.0 or less from
a TGA member club or course.
