Magnolia Amateur: Brady pulls away late for title
HATTIESBURG, Miss. (July 13, 2014) -- Recent Southern Miss graduate Kevin Brady birdied three of his last four holes to break away from J.T. Taylor and win the 2014 Magnolia Amateur at Hattiesburg Country Club.
Brady carded a final-round 69 to fend off Taylor, who shot a final-round 68 to close the gap Brady entered the final day of action with.
Brady totaled rounds of 69-64-69 for the victory while Taylor, who plays at Sam Houston State, shot 69-68-68.
Benjamin Wolcott closed well, too, shooting a final-round 65 to sneak into a tie for second place alongside Taylor. Wolcott plays at Ole Miss.
Will Thrash of Huntingdon College took solo fourth place after rounds of 67-69-74 while Fernando Cruz Valley of Louisiana-Lafayette and Texas-San Antonio's Bryce Alley tied for fifth place.
