Pennsylvania Match Play: Williams tops Kania, Jr. in final
JOHNSTOWN, Penn. (July 9, 2014) -- Eric Williams defeated James Kania, Jr. in 20 holes to win the championship match at the 2014 Pennsylvania Match Play Championship.
At Sunnehanna Country Club, Williams won two matches Wednesday, knocking off Mariano Medico 3 and 2 in the morning semifinal before taking on Kania, Jr. in the finale.
Kania, Jr. advanced to the final match with a semifinal victory over No. 2 seed Patrick Ross.
The Pennsylvania Match Play, in its 11th year, is named for legendary amateur R. Jay Sigel, a former U.S. Amateur champion.

ABOUT THE Pennsylvania Amateur Match Play
Open to any male amateur golfer who is a member
of a
club belonging to the Pennsylvania Golf Association.
Format consists of two rounds of stroke play
followed
by a cut to the low 16 players for match play.
