Virginia Super Senior: Abbett holds lead
KILMARNOCK, Virg. (July 9, 2014) –– McLean’s Jon Abbett, 66, shot 4-under-par 68 to lead the first round of stroke play qualifying in the 65-69 age division at the 20th Virginia State Golf Association Super Senior Amateur Championship being conducted at Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club.

Also in the 65-69 age category, Don Jeanes of Fairfax opened with a 2-under 70. Alexandria’s Bill Engel returned 1-under 71 to complete the rounds in red numbers in the division.
