Missouri Amateur: Johnson, Atkisson advance to finale
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (June 28, 2014) -- Top seed Joey Johnson and No. 7 Joseph Atkisson both won two matches Saturday to advance to Sunday's final match at the 2014 Missouri Amateur at Norwood Hills Country Club.
Johnson, the defending champion, rolled past Michael Wootten in the morning quarterfinal before topping Cy Moritz, 1-up, in the afternoon semifinal.
That earned him a trip to Sunday's finale to face Atkisson, who beat No. 2 Skip Berkmeyer in the semifinal, prevailing in 21 holes, before beating Chase Hanna, 2 and 1, in the semifinal.
