Missouri Amateur: Defending champ Johnson rolls in round of 64

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (June 25, 2014) -- Defending champion and stroke play medalist Joey Johnson of Missouri State won his match on Thursday in the round of 64 at the Missouri Amateur Championship.
Johnson defeated 64th-seed Justin Mitchell 2&1 at Norwood Hills Country Club, as he made three birdies and only lost one hole on the day.
Johnson next faces 33-seed Teddy Jones in the round of 32.
Mid-amateur and second-seeded Skip Berkmeyer also won today, downing Blake Windsor 4&3 to set up a showdown against 31-seed Phil Caravia on Friday morning.

players for match play. Entries are open to male
amateur golfers who are current members of the
MGA,
play at clubs who are members of the Missouri Golf
Association with a certified handicap index of not
more
than nine (9.0) on the USGA men’s handicap
system.
Non-exempt players must pre-qualify.
