Florida State Amateur: Lench takes 36-hole lead
VERO BEACH, Fla. (June 20, 2014) -- Gabriel Lench leads heading into the weekend at the Florida State Amateur at Quail Valley Golf Club.
Lench shot a 6-under 66 on Thursday at Hawks Nest Golf Club but came back with a 3-under 69 in Round 2. It all adds up to a two-shot lead over R.J. Nakashian and Edward Figueroa entering the third of four rounds Saturday.
Lench is eating up the par 5’s through two rounds, playing them in an astounding eight-under par. Lench will be looking to capture his second State Championship after he prevailed at the 2013 Junior Match Play Championship last season.
First-round leader Michael MeMorat of Merritt Island shot 78 on Friday to fall from the top of the leaderboard.
