Apple's big summer ad campaign for
the iPhone 5s features a dozen of the top
health and fitness apps you can use to do
things like plan your workouts, improve your
soccer kick, and (our favorite) analyze your
golf swing in 3D. It's all set to the nostalgic
tune "Chicken Fat" which was
composed for President John F.
Kennedy’s Physical Fitness Program and
distributed to schools nationwide. (Does Apple
know how to advertise or what?)
If you're an AmateurGolf.com regular you
may have recognized the small lime green 3D
swing analyzer as coming from no other than
our official golf swing training partner, Zepp
Golf. The Los Gatos, Calif. - based company
has a device you can purchase for just
$149.99 that allows you to have access to the
stats and swing views you need anytime you
want, not just when you have access to a
launch monitor. Tour players, better amateurs,
and college golf teams are using Zepp in a
number of unique ways which we feature in our
"Golf Instruction Using the
Latest Technology" blog.
So how did they wind up in an Apple
commercial that's going to be seen by millions?
The product sells well in Apple's retail stores,
for one. But more importantly, it's unique, and
gets great reviews.
"We knew we were up for consideration,"
said
Zepp Marketing Manager John Michael Hauer.
"But we
literally didn't find out until two days before
the ad
aired that we made the final cut.”
