SOUTHPORT, N.C. (June 11, 2014) -- Alexandra Austin, Monica Sealy and Meaghan Theiss all shot 71s on Wednesday and shot into a tie for the lead at the 2014 Women's Eastern Amateur at The Founders Club at St. James Plantation.

The trio trailed first-round co-leaders Brianna Mao and Kaitlyn Price by four entering the day's action but turned it around to forge a tie atop the leaderboard.

Mao and Price slid to a tie for fourth place along with Lori Beth Adams.

Taylor Paige Lyle is seventh, sitting three shots back while a group of eight players, including rising French amateur Shannon Aubert, are tied for eighth.

Thursday will complete the event as the the third and final round is played.

ABOUT THE Women's Eastern Amateur

The Womenfs Eastern Golf Championship has been played since 1906 and is one of the oldest and most prestigious womenfs amateur championships in the United States.

Must belong to a WEGA member club or have a school affiliation in one of the following Eastern states: Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Vermont, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. 54 hole stroke play championship.
