2 share lead at Eastern Amateur
SOUTHPORT, N.C. (June 10, 2014) -- Briana Mao and Kaitlyn Price both shot 70s and sit tied for first place after Round 1 at the 2014 Women's Eastern Amateur.
Playing the Founders Club at St. James Plantation, Mao and Price raced out to share the 1-shot lead over a field and host of nearby contenders.
Tied for third place are Alexandra Austin, Katy Harris and Lori Beth Adams, all of whom shot 71.
Daniela Lendl, the 2012 champion is alone in sixth place after Round 1 while sister Isabelle Lendl, Rinko Mutsunaga, Taylor Paige Lyle and France's Shannon Aubert are tied for seventh, just three shots off the leading pace.
All told, there are eight players inside of three shots and another five players inside of four shots of the lead shared by the two at the top.
Defending champion Ashlan Ramsey isn't in the field, having helped the U.S. to the Curtis Cup victory this past weekend in St. Louis.

prestigious womenfs amateur championships in the

Must belong to a WEGA member club or have
a school affiliation in one of the following Eastern

Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New
Jersey,
New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode
Island,
South Carolina, Vermont, Virginia, and the District of
