S. Carolina Match Play: Langley takes lead
SEABROOK ISLAND, SC – First round stroke play qualifying results of the 42nd South Carolina Amateur Match Play Championship of the Carolinas Golf Association hosted by Seabrook Island Club (Ocean Winds Course) in Seabrook Island, SC on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 (6765 yards, par 36-36—72, 73.1/144).

Brian Langley of Bluffton, South Carolina fired the only under par round of the day, shooting a two-under par 70; his round featured four birdies and two bogeys on the day.

Defending champion, Adam Goins of Gaffney, SC turned professional and is not back to defend.

After 36 holes the field of 63 players will be cut to the low 32 scorers for match play seeded 1-32.

ABOUT THE South Carolina Amateur Match Play

Championship format is 36 holes of stroke play to determine 32 qualifiers for match play. The defending champion is seeded number one for match play if otherwise eligible.

Entry is open to any male amateur golfer who has reached his 13th birthday, is a legal resident of South Carolina, is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) and has an active GHIN® USGA Handicap Index® at a CGA member club that does not exceed 7.4.
