Palmetto Amateur Qualifying: 5 players clinch berths
AIKEN, S.C. (June 3, 2014) -- As the golf world turned its attention to qualifying for the U.S. Open, another qualifer was taking place with impact on the amateur golf world.
Five players punched their tickets to championship proper at the 2014 Palmetto Amateur at Palmetto Golf Club, which runs June 4-7.
Parks Brown, Jake Francis and Zhongyang Fu all shot even par 70 to tie for medalist honors. Taehyung Kim and Brendan Lamp shot 71 and took the final two shots over Will Woodward, who also shot 1-over, but was on the outside looking in.
The Palmetto Amateur is a 72-hole stroke-play event held on the classic Alister MacKenzie-designed Palemtto Golf Club. The field of 84 is primarily hand selected and features many of the top players in the collegiate and mid-amateur ranks.
