SPARTANBURG, S.C. (May 29, 2014) -- Mike Hartin and Cory Taylor shot a total of seventeen under par 127 to take Medalist honors in the stroke play portion of the SCGA Four Ball Championship being held at the Country Club of Spartanburg. The Slater and Greer natives edged out Carter Davis and Sam Jackson by one shot to grab the #2 seed entering Match Play.

Sixty teams were vying for the 31 spots that qualify for the Match Play portion of the event that starts on Friday. An even number of 31 teams shot 136 or better to move on in the Championship. Defending Champions, Brad Thorne and Will Woodard, automatically received the #1 seed.

The Match play portion of the event will begin on Friday at 8.00 a.m. off of #1 and #10 tees.

ABOUT THE South Carolina Four-Ball

The Four Ball Championship is a great attraction as it has become the only Match Play event that the South Carolina Golf Association conducts. With 60 teams starting play, after two days of stroke play qualifying, 32 teams will advance to match play to square off against each other until there is only one team left.

By virtue of being one of the few Match Play events available in South Carolina, this is a great opportunity to play in a format that used to dominate tournament golf.
