Missouri Senior Four-Ball: Groom/Smith lead
ST. LOUIS (May 21, 2014) — After taking third place in last year’s Missouri Senior Four-Ball Championship, the duo of Steve Groom and Andy Smith have started on the right foot towards clinching their first title.
A first round 65 was good enough for the first round lead, but Scott Edwards and Jeff Sarni as well as Jerry Parrish and Mitch Parrish are close behind with 66s.
A year ago, Groom and Smith, who hail from Kansas City, shot 137 over two days to place third and miss a playoff by two strokes. Edwards and Sarni came even closer, shooting 136. Both teams have experience playing for this title; tomorrow will come down to which team can close.
Tomorrow’s round at Algonquin Golf Club will be a double shotgun at 8:30 and 1:30. The leaders tee off in the afternoon wave. Results can be seen below.
