Texas Four-Ball: Madison, Hollomon win playoff
KINGWOOD, Tx. (May 18, 2014) -- Brian Madison and Casey Hollomon won on the first playoff hole to provide a fantastic finish to the State Four-Ball Championship at Deerwood Club in Kingwood. The team of Mike Booker and Mike Peck came from one stroke behind to claim the championship in the Senior division. Mike Arnold and Bob Hullender repeated as Super Senior champions in the first state championship of the Texas Golf Association’s 2014 season.

With a crowded leader board heading into the final round in the Championship division, two teams finished tied after 54 holes. Clarke Kincaid and Brandon Scott saw themselves tied with the duo of Madison and Hollomon at 16-under par 200. On the first playoff hole, Deerwood’s par four #9, Hollomon drained a birdie to claim victory for his team.

Madison / Hollomon started the final round three strokes behind Kincaid / Scott at 10-under par 134 and turned in a final round 6-under par 66 to get them into a tie. Kincaid / Scott registered a final round 3-under par 69. 2012 State Four-Ball champions John Bearrie and Aaron Hickman finished in 3rd place at 14-under par 202, which included a final round 4-under par 68. Booker / Peck began their final round in the Senior division one stroke behind second round leaders Jerry Hudgins and Mike Rice.

With a blistering 4-under par 32 on their opening nine holes, Deerwood’s back nine, Booker / Peck found themselves with a three shot lead and only nine holes left to play. A closing 3-under par 33 to finish the final round allowed for the duo to post a score of 18-under par 198 for three days and claim their first State Four-Ball Senior division championship. Hudgins / Rice finished alone in second place at 13-under par 203 and 2013 Senior division champions Bob Kearney and Gary Durbin finished in third at 11-under par 205.
