Similarly, in the Super Senior Division, Mike Pharr and Gerald Chatham, both of Hernando are at the top of the leaderboard with a three-under par, 69. Randy Pool and Kelly Swain are biting at their heels with only one stroke to make up which would pull them into contention for the Super Senior title.

Jumping to a quick lead in the Regular Division, Edward Wall and Zach Longgrear, posted the low first round of the Championship with an eight-under, 64. With five birdies on the second nine holes, Wall and Longgrear secured their position on the leaderboard. Defending Champions, Justin Elliott and Steve Wilson, are two behind the lead at six-under. Elliott and Wilson are in a good place to make a run on the championship as past champions and with Steve Wilson is coming off a win at the Old Waverly Invitational, they are certainly playing well this season.

Many thanks to Jim Kwasinski for his preparation of the course, despite the cool winter season that the state experienced. Tournament Director, Don Hershfelt, of Tupelo had many good things to say about the course and has been planning for many weeks to ensure a challenging, yet friendly course setup.
