MEMPHIS, Tenn. (April 7, 2014) — The winner of the 2014 Shell Houston
Open trusted his incredible short game to True Temper’s Dynamic Gold for
his first PGA TOUR career win and a ticket to the Masters this weekend.
The Champion holed an improbable 46-yard putt on the final hole to force
a sudden-death playoff. Amazingly, he then chipped in from 42 yards on
the first playoff hole for another birdie and the win. In addition to a trip to
Augusta, the 33-year-old winner also moved to 16th place in the
FedExCup points standings and took home a $1,152,000 check.
“The Shell Houston Open winner really pulled it out in the end with two
incredible hole outs,” said Scott Hennessy, president and CEO of True
Temper Sports. “This may be the first time he has been a part of a down-
to-the-wire win, but certainly not so for Dynamic Gold. We are proud that
like many champions before him, he trusted Dynamic Gold to take him to
the winner’s circle. We wish him the best of luck in Augusta this week.”
