LA HABRA HEIGHTS, Calif. (March 24, 2014) -- Three teams are tied for the lead after the first round of play at the 2014 SCGA Foursomes Championship.

At Hacienda Golf Club, the teams of Cory Gladstone and Phil Walker, Mark Manwaring and Cass Traub and Dave Aarons and Brennan Amirkhizi all shot 1-under 70 in Monday's first round and enter the second and final round with a share of the one-shot lead.

The teams of Sang Hyun and David Ober and Gary Gallogly and Mark Harding are tied for fourth thanks to even-par 71s.

The tournament is open to two-person teams, with both players members of an SCGA club (not necessarily the same club) and each player having an established current index of 6.4 or under. The combined ages of the two players must total at least 80.

For the first round playing the foursomes format (sometimes called alternate shot or Scotch), the team will select which player will tee off on the odd-numbered holes; the other player will tee off on the even-numbered holes. Thereafter, on each hole, players alternate in hitting shots until the ball is holed. On the second day of play, players will switch tees on which they tee off (i.e., if player #1 tees off on the odd-numbered holes on round #1, he or she will tee off on the even-numbered holes on round #2).
