South Carolina (CGA) Amateur Match Play
CAMDEN, SC (June 18, 2006) -- The semifinals found four tired competitors going the distance in the morning matches. Adam Hart's 2 over par effort was just good enough to edge College of Charleston senior golfer, Gari Maton, 1 up. In the second match, Ben Karns' scrambeling kept in the match against Baker. Elmore until the last hole, where a three putt bogey gave the match to Elmore, 1 up.

The final match turned out to be a putting battle with neither player able to master the tough Camden greens. Numerous times, Baker and Adam either three putted or failed to get up and down for par. They steadied themselves in the middle of the 18 hole final as both picked their games up a notch. Hart birdied #7 to go two up. Elmore answered with a two on the par 3 eighth to cut it back to one. Hart chipped in on #9 for birdie to go back to 2 up on the front.

Elmore lost #10 by three putting to go three down and had the favor returned when Hart dumped his second on #11 in the greenside bunker and missed a short par putt. Hart won the par three 12th when Elmore failed to get up and down from the left bunker. Elmore two putted the par five thirteenth and the par five fourteenth for birdies but could only pick up one as Hart answered with a birdie of his own on #14. After Hart missed a short putt for par on the next hole it looked like Elmore had a sure win but his two footer burned the edge and he remained two down going to the par three 16th. Baker bunkered his tee ball and failed to make par on #16 and the match was suddenly over with Adam Hart winning by a 3 & 2 margin.
