The Giddings Cup has been a California staple for more than 30 years and this year, the annual event is adding a new experience for new and returning players.

The two-man best-ball tournament, which has typically been contested over 54 holes, will now become 36-holes. And, perhaps the biggest change for the 2014 event, will be the addition of a mid-amateur flight for players 25 and up. Called the Landmark Flight, the mid-amateur division opens up the chance for the Giddings Cup to include fathers and sons competing as a team and introduces a host of potential talent to the event.

Established in 1983, the Giddings Cup goes to honor great California amateur Dick Giddings and is played at the beautiful SilverRock Resort in La Quinta, Calif. and the Indian Wells Resort in Indian Wells.

Last year's event was won by Jeff Burda and John Richart, who rolled to the title by five shots thanks to a final-round 64.

This year's event, which will include thre divisions (Mid-Am, Senior and Super Senior) is scheduled for April 5-6.

Register for the event soon and get your game ready for the desert!
