Moot Thomas Sr: Brown goes wire-to-wire
OCALA, Fla. (March 2, 2014) -- Lecanto’s Brian Brown went wire-to-wire to caputure the 7th Annual Moot Thomas Invitational. Brown’s final round 2-under-par 70 gave him a three-day score of 13-under-par 203. Finishing in a tie for second place was Bill Zylstra and Apopka’s Doug Snopap. Zylstra shot the low round of the tournament 8-under-par 64 and shot shot a 4-under-par 68 for 9-under-par 207’s. Also finishing under par for the three days were Rob Hess (Casselberry ) (68-73-71-212) and Walter Himelsbaugh (71-73-71-213).
Senior Division championship Shawn McLoughlin was also a wire-to wire winner. The Bethel, Connecticut resident shot rounds of 70-73-72 for a one-under-par 215 total one shot ahead of Berger Warner (72-73-71-216). Finishing third was Randy Briggs who shot 74-70-73 - 217.
In The Legends Division Ray Darmstadt came from one shot back to win his third tournament in a row. The Westchester, NY resident shot a final round 73 for a 219 total and a two-shot win. Finishing second was Newberry’s Brian Sachs (76-73-72-221) Tied for third were Jim Pfogner (Sarasota) (75-77-77-221), Ron Audi (74-75-73-221) and Ron Russo (72-74-76-221).

ABOUT THE Moot Thomas Invitational
54 hole stroke play championship for men 55 years
of
age or older. Super Senior division must be 65 or
older,
Legends division must be 70 years or older, and
Super Legends must be 75 years or older. The
tournament honors Moot Thomas, an Ocala native
and
FSGA Hall of Famer who had a lengthy and
successful
amateur career.
