SC Partners: Hewitt, Macolly lead
COLUMBIA, S.C. (March 1, 2014) -- The team of Andrew Hewitt and Tyler Macolly, reigning SCGA Players Four Ball Champions, started the first round of the 22nd Annual Partners Championship with a bang at The Members Club at Woodcreek firing a stellar 13 under par performance of 59. Playing a captain’s choice format today, Hewitt and Macolly will test their skills at Spring Valley Country Club on Sunday in a best ball format with a one shot lead over Tom Kennaday and Jesse Smith in the Championship Division. Two shots back of the lead are the teams of Daniel Day and Mickey Plyler as well as Josh Branyon and JD Hoft.
In the Tournament Division at Spring Valley C.C., former Wofford golfers Wil Hutchens and Chuck Moore posted a score of 11 under 61 to take a two shot lead into Sunday at The Members Club at Woodcreek. Ken Carter and Stephen Kirven, 2008 Partners Champions, are two shots back after a nine-under par 63. Five other teams are four shots off the lead.
The final round will be contested with a better ball format and will begin with a 9.30 shotgun start.
The 2014 SCGA Partners Championship is played over two golf courses, the par 72 – 6,665 yard Spring Valley CC course in Columbia, S.C and the par 72- 6,686 yard Members Club at Woodcreek course in Elgin. The field consisted of 102 two-man teams split into two different Divisions based on handicap, the Championship Division and the Tournament Division. Each division is playing a Captains Choice format the first day and a Best Ball format the second while alternating courses each day. The Partners Championship is one of 20 Major Championships conducted annually by the South Carolina Golf Association.

ABOUT THE South Carolina Partners
The Partners Championship has become one of the
most popular events conducted by the South
Carolina Golf Association. So popular in fact, that in
2009 the SCGA had to expand to two golf courses,
Spring Valley Country Club & The Members Club -
Woodcreek Course.
The field will play in two separate divisions flip-
flopping golf courses on Saturday & Sunday. The
Championship Division will conclude play at
Woodcreek on Sunday and both divisions will be
broken into flights for the final round.
The Partners Championship continues to be one of
the main fund raisers for the South Carolina Junior
Golf Association.
