N. Las Vegas Open: UNLV's Thomas impresses

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Jan. 20, 2014) -- Zane Thomas seems to make a pretty good living with the SNGA, as he continues to win almost every event that he enters.

Thomas, a sophomore on the UNLV golf team, showed good form in the inaugural North Las Vegas Open at Aliante Golf Club, shooting an impressive 67-71 for a two day total of 138. His first round score of 67 was a new competitive low round at Aliante Golf Club.

Behind Thomas was Brandon Bauman, a 17 year old Senior, who finished his tournament off in style with a 69. Bauman shot 73 in the first round. In 3rd Place was JT Timmons, a Utah product who made the trip down with his father to play in the first tournament of the year. Timmons shot 75-70 for a 145 and ended up beating his dad as well.

In the Net Division, Steven Holloway took top honors with a 81-74 score for a 155 Net. Second place was shared between Paul Kulon Bryan Carlon.

On the senior side of things, Frank Acker won running away with it after a 2 day score of 73-73 for a 146. Acker took down a strong field that included the senior scratch and net player's of the year with Gary Carpendale and Jack Meola, respectively.

In the Senior Net Division, Domenic Sica won with a 74-74 for a net 148. 2nd Place went Brian Marks, one of the SNGA Partner Series Player's of the year, with a Net score of 149.

The Super Senior was won by Frank Abbott, a gentlemen becoming familiar with winning with the SNGA. Abbott, you shot 72-74 for a two day total of 146, won the SNGA Championship in December at Cascata as well and has started his search for the 2014 Super Senior Player of the Year in style. On the Net Side, Ed Stocklen won with a two day total of 145. Stocklen was the 2013 Super Senior Player of the Year.
