St. Andrews Links Trophy: Fisher Gets First Big Win
ST. ANDREWS, SCOTLAND (June 11, 2006) -- Oliver Fisher today won the Links Trophy 2006 with a final score of 280, seven under par. He held off the challenge of Australia's Stephen Dartnell (282) and playing partner Keir McNicoll of Carnoustie (284) to record the first big title of his career. The 17-year-old from West Sussex GC, who has already represented GB&I in the Walker Cup, showed strength of character to hold out for victory on a hot and windy Old Course.

ABOUT THE St. Andrews Links Trophy
72-hole stroke play that draws one of the top
amateur fields in Europe. Field plays two rounds, one
at the Old Course and one additional (sometimes
the Jubilee, sometimes the New), then the field
is
cut to the low 40 and ties. The final two rounds
are played on the Old Course.
