Dixie Women's: Sims shoots 66 to lead
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. (Dec. 17, 2013) – Mariana Sims took advantage of perfect scoring conditions to shoot a six-under par 66 and take the first-round lead in the women’s Dixie Amateur at Heron Bay Golf Club.

Sims, from Austin, Texas, has a two-shot lead over France’s Shannon Aubert.

Defending champion Isabelle Lendl of Bradenton, FLa., is in a group of four players another shot back, including Mariah Stackhouse from Riverdale, Ga., Meghan Stasi, the University of Mississippi golf coach from nearby Oakland Park, and Samantha Smolen of Lake Worth, Fla.

Only 10 women in the field of 112 were able to break par on the difficult ClubLink course located northwest of Fort Lauderdale.

The 72-hole event concludes Friday.
