Women's Texas Senior Stroke Play: Neal leads
HUNTSVILLE, Tx. (Oct. 21, 2013) -- It was a beautiful day at Elkins Lake Country Club for the first round of the Senior Stroke Play Championship. Becky Neal of Mansfield charged into the lead by shooting a 4 under 69. Mina Hardin of Fort Worth was 1 stroke behind by shooting 3-under par 70. Marilyn Hardy of Houston is hot on their trails--she shot a 1-under 72. Beth Clecker and Nancy Kromar (both of Austin) each shot 74 to be in a tie for 4th. The ladies were thrilled for the cooler fall weather and eager to accept the challenge that Elkins Lake offers. The course is in great shape for and the Elkins Lake members and staff are delighted to be hosting one of the state's most popular women's tournaments. The second round is scheduled for a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m.

ABOUT THE Texas Women's Senior Stroke Play

Eligibility: Entries are open to female amateur golfers with a certified GHIN Handicap Index, and who are 50 years of age or older by the first round of the Championship.

Player Field: The starting field will consist of 96 players. In the event the championship becomes over-subscribed, entries will be accepted in order of handicap index.

Format: The championship will be a 54 hole stroke play championship. Upon completion of Round 2, the field will be broken into flights based on 36-hole scores.
