GERMANTOWN, Tenn. (Oct. 13, 2013) -- The 18th hole at TPC Southwind proved a difficult challenge once again as Dan Barton of Windyke Country Club squandered a four shot lead by making triple bogey while his good friend, and nearest challenger, Bill Garner also of Windyke made birdie to force a playoff for the MGA Mid-Amateur Invitational.

Both finished with a two-day total of even par 143. Barton made par, to Garner's bogey, on the first playoff hole to win the title.

In the first year of a new format where the MGA invited the top 20 finishers from both the MGA Amateur and the Memphis Public Links Championship, and rounded out the field with other top MGA members, the tournament featured many of the best amateur players in the Memphis area. Matt Cooper, current Public Links champion, finished alone in third place, two shots behind Barton and Garner.
