NC Four-Ball: Boyce, Claytor go wire-to-wire
DAVIDSON, NC – Final results of the 18th North Carolina Four-Ball Championship of the Carolinas Golf Association hosted by River Run Country Club in Davidson, NC on Sunday, October 6, 2013. (Par 36-36—72, 6,800 yards, Rating: 73.4/138).

Former Barton College golfers Dave Boyce, Jr. ('12) of Charlotte and Daniel Claytor of Rocky Mount ('13) capped off a wire-to-wire victory with a 5-under par performance on Sunday. Their 54-hole total of 18-under par 198, won by three-strokes over Noah Edmondson and William Gordon, both high school juniors from Davidson.

Boyce Jr. and Claytor entered the final round with a three-stroke advantage over the rest of the field. They started off by notching four birdies on the first six holes. With Edmondson and Gordon making a late surge of 3-under par on the back nine, and after making bogey at the sixteenth hole, the lead for Boyce Jr. and Claytor was two-shots. Standing on the tee of the 210 yard par-3 seventeenth, a hole they bogeyed both previous rounds, Boyce Jr. and Claytor needed to hit the green. “I knew I could hit a soft fade into the hole location the right side. The main concern was clearing the bunker”, said Claytor. He landed the ball five feet from the flag and converted the birdie putt. A par on the eighteenth hole clinched the title.
