Mid-Atlantic Amateur: Lawrence surges for win
MANAKIN SABOT, Virg. (Oct. 6, 2013) -- Mark Lawrence (72-70-71-68--281) of Henrico, VA, roared in with a 32 on the back nine at Kinloch in the fourth round of the 107th Middle Atlantic Amateur to take a two-stroke win over runner-up Mikey Moyers (71-71-70-71--283) of Standardsville in final round play on Sunday, October 6. Moyers had won the Eastern Amateur during the summer while Lawrence took the Virginia Junior Stroke Play title.
In third place was Matt Sughrue (69-71-73-72--285), who played in the US Senior Open in Omaha this summer. Wes Eklund (74-72-71-70--287) and Jake Yount (72-68-70-77) tied for fourth place while junior Bennett Buch (71-3-72-72--288) and two-time champion Mike Muehr (72-73-67-76--288) knotted in sixth place.
Kinloch member Sam Sikes 969-71-75-75--290) and Andrew McCain (75-72-71-72--290) tied for eighth while junior Peter Knade (69-76-68-78--291) finished in tenth place.
