Steve Royer takes R.I. Mid-Amateur
SEEKONK, Mass. (Sept. 17, 2013) — New England Country Club's Steve Royer wins the 20th Rhode Island Mid Amateur Championship. He shot a second round 3 under par 68 combined with a first round 71 to win by 4 strokes over four players. It's the first RIGA championship for Royer who shot 3 under par 139 for a two round total. Tied for second place was Pawtucket CC's Austin Eaton III and Ryan Pelletier, Crestwood's Kolby Simmons and first round leader EJ Wholey (Triggs).
In the Senior Division Dave McNally shot 71-77-148 to beat Warwick CC's Joe Hassett by 2 strokes.

ABOUT THE Rhode Island Mid-Amateur
Open to male amateur golfers who are members
with
a RIGA member club, have reached their 25th
birthday
by the start of the event, and an index no more than
12.0. Format is 36-holes of stroke play with a cut to
the low 55 players and ties after the first round.
There
will also be a senior division for those 55 and older.
