S. Carolina Mid-Am: Patterson leads by 1
OKATIE, S.C. (Sept. 14, 2013) --John Patterson shot his second consecutive score of three under par 69 for a two day total of 138 and holds a two shot lead in the SCGA's Mid-Amateur Championship at Oldfield Golf Club. The co-manager at the nearby Chechesse Creek Club in Okatie made five birdies and two bogies for his second round of 69.

Two shots back are JD Hoft, half of the current SCGA Mid-Amateur Four Ball Champions and Josh Branyon, the 2011 Mid-Amateur Champion. Lee Palms and Matt Laydon shared the low scorer of the day honors with 67’s. Fighting a cold, Defending Champion Todd Hendley is eleven back at 149.

60 players made the cut at 155 or better. Final round play will resume on Sunday morning beginning at 8.00 a.m. starting on #1 & #10 tees.

The 2013 SCGA Mid-Amateur Championship is being conducted on the par 72 ~ 6,861 yard Oldfield Golf Club course in Okatie, SC. The field consists of 117 individuals playing 54 holes of stroke play and was cut to the low 60 and ties after the second round. The Mid-Amateur is one of 19 Major Championships conducted by the South Carolina Golf Association and is in its 32nd year of existence.

ABOUT THE South Carolina Mid-Amateur

What has become known as the "Working Man's" tournament, this Championship is for individuals 25 years of age and older. A 54 hole event that is cut to the low 60 and ties for the final round, the Mid Amateur Championship has become a true test for the true amateur golfer.
