SC Senior Better Ball: Irving, Wilson prevail
SANTEE, S.C. (Sept. 9, 2013) -- Columbia pair Tim Babb and Joseph Horne carried at two shot advantage into Sunday’s final round of the SCGA Senior Better Ball Championship after a first round score of 8 under par 64.

Paired with Babb and Horne in the 1A group, and just two shots back, was the team of Lee Irving and Ron Wilson of Bluffton. The Colleton River Plantation members, Irving and Wilson turned the tide early after a front nine 34, while their playing competitors Babb and Horne struggled to a two over par 38. Irving and Wilson continued their steady play, knocking in two more birdies on the back nine to complete a final round four under par 68. A ten under par total of 134 gave Lee Irving and Ron Wilson their first SCGA Senior Better Ball Championship.

Not to be outdone was the Laurens/Greenwood connection of Fran Finley and Lewis Rollins, who ran off a flurry of birdies on the back nine en route to a final round five under par 67 and a second place finish at nine under par, 135. Finley and Rollins could not convert a birdie on either of the final two holes, which would have forced a playoff.
