NC Mid-Am: Jackson leads entering finale
WILMINGTON, NC – Second round results of the 20th North Carolina Mid-Amateur Championship of the Carolinas Golf Association hosted by Porters Neck Country Club in Wilmington, NC on Saturday, September 7, 2013 (6856 yards, par 36-36—72, 73.4/133).

Jonathan Jackson of Chapel Hill carded a second round 71 (140) to take a one shot lead heading into the final round at Porters Neck. Jackson, a 31-year-old advertising manager and former University of North Carolina golfer, made two birdies and one bogey in his round.

Matthew Crenshaw of Burlington and Sherrill Britt of West End are tied for second place at 141. Jackson and Britt qualified for the U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship earlier this week.

Lurking only two shots back is defending champion Scott Harvey of Greensboro, NC whom posted a three-under 69 and stands at 142.

After 36 holes the field of 126 players was cut to the low 60 scores and ties for the final round. The cut line fell at 154 with 64 players advancing to Sunday.

Final round is set for an 8:00am start on Sunday at Porters Neck. Round 3 starting times are listed below.

North Carolina Mid-Amateur Championship is open to any male amateur golfer who has reached his 30th birthday, is a legal resident of North Carolina, is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) and has an active GHIN® USGA Handicap Index® at a CGA member club that does not exceed 5.4. Sectional qualifying is required in the weeks before the championship unless exemption criteria is met. 54-hole stroke play event with a cut to the low 60 and ties after 36 holes.
