MEMPHIS, Tenn. (August 12, 2013) — The 2013
PGA Champion won a two-
stroke victory on Sunday with Project X PXi in
his irons and True Temper’s DG
Spinner in his wedges. While many players in
the field struggled with the soft
fairways and greens, the champion lead the
field with solid iron play.
Two memorable moments from this weekend’s
Major included the champion’s
eagle on no. 2 which tied him for the lowest
round in major history and his
12-foot birdie on 16 yesterday. Both are
testaments to his skillful short game
and the spin produced by DG Spinner
technology. His win at the 95th PGA
Championship marked his first win at a Major
and his third PGA TOUR career
victory.
“All of us here at True Temper congratulate the
champion on his first victory
at a Major and his incredible game throughout
the tournament,” said Scott
Hennessy, president and CEO of True Temper
Sports.
“One of the big stories from the weekend has
been the champion’s accuracy
with his irons and the spin on his wedge shots,
which is exactly how we
designed PXi and DG Spinner shafts,
respectively, to perform. Both of these
new shafts were designed and tested on the
global tours to get you closer to
the pin, which we saw shot after shot at the
PGA Championship.”
PXi also scored top spots on the Web.com tour
this weekend, placing second
and third at the Price Cutter Charity Classic.
Truth in Numbers
The PGA Championship winner’s bag:
• Project X PXi 6.5 (4-9);
• DG Spinner (SW, LW); PXi 6.5 (HYB)
• 117 players in The PGA Championship
field trusted shafts by True Temper
• 25 2013 PGA TOUR events won by shafts
by True Temper
The revolutionary lightweight PXi shafts have
been specifically engineered to
feel softer in a player's hands in the short irons
while simultaneously
stiffening the feel of the longer shafts within
the set. The PXi shafts feature
a unique variable taper design with a dedicated
taper rate for each flex.
Longer taper rate results in more energy
transfer to the ball for a faster and
flatter penetrating trajectory. The new PXi
shaft is a great hybrid option and
provides a smooth transition from Project X
irons to hybrids.
The DG Spinner’s unique design incorporates a
special section along the
length of the shaft that decreases launch
angles by as much as three
degrees and increases the ball’s spin rate by as
much as 700+ rpm.
