Simmerman rolls at San Antonio Match Play
FAIR OAKS, Texas (Aug. 11, 2013) -- No. 11 seed Danny Simmerman went the distance, winning the 2013 Greater San Antonio Match Play Championship at Fair Oaks Ranch.

Simmerman defeated No. 16 Ian Evans by an impressive marging, taking the championship match 7-and-6.

Top-seeded Chris Contreras was upset in Round 2, falling to No. 33 Ryan Luna.

No. 2 seed Bobby Baugh went the distance, winning the Senior Division.

Baugh knocked off Randy Block, 3-and-2, in Sunday's finale for the title.

Baugh beat No. 3 seed Doug Corbin impressively, winning 7-and-6 to gain entry to the Sunday championship match.

Top seed Harry Ramirez was upset by No. 9 seed David Thornally in the quarterfinals.

ABOUT THE San Antonio Match Play

18 hole stroke play qualifier to determine a match play bracket of 32 players. Open to any male with amateur status, 18 years or older, residing in Bexar, Comal, Kendall, Wilson, Atascosa, Medina, Guadalupe, or Bandera counties for a minimum of three months prior to the Championship qualifier date. (Military residents are exempt from the three month residency requirement.)
