Play Golf America Day Set for May 19 at Haggin Oaks

Sacramento, CA- The organizers of Play Golf America, www.playgolfamerica.com, a nation-wide initiative designed to bring new players to the game of golf, have set Friday, May 19th as California’s Play Golf America Day at Haggin Oaks Golf Complex (Capital City Freeway at Fulton Ave.) in Sacramento, CA. Free to the general public, this 2nd Annual Play Golf America Day will run from 9:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. with registration starting at 8:00 A.M.

While promoting good health and exercise, it will be a fun-filled day packed with a variety of golf activities. Attendees will have access to over 40 PGA and LPGA instructors ready to provide individual mini-lessons to newcomers, and former golfers wanting to return to the sport. Video swing analysis will also be available. Free golf clinics will be conducted throughout the day on all facets of the game and will be open to players of all skill levels. Participants will learn about upcoming clinics and classes that are posted on the Play Golf America website: www.playgolfamerica.com. For those interested, Play Golf America Day attendees can also enjoy nine holes of golf for free on the Arcade Creek Golf Course. Registration for golf will take place starting at 8:00 A.M.

“Our Play Golf America Day welcomes everyone from newcomers to former players wanting to reconnect with the game,” states NCPGA Executive Director Chris Thomas. “From free golf instruction on the lesson tee to a nine-hole on-course golf experience, Haggin Oaks Golf Complex is the place to be on May 19th.” Adding excitement to the day will be a Cobra/Pinnacle Long-Drive Team exhibition with a celebrity appearance from Vince Howell.

Several leading equipment manufacturers (Callaway, Cobra, Nike Golf, MacGregor, Ping, Titleist, Pinnacle, and Top Flite/Hogan) will be on site with some of the hottest products in the marketplace. Participants are invited to test clubs on the range, wedges at the chipping area and putters on the practice green. Trained reps will provide product insight, club fitting and launch monitor club fitting services. Wilson Golf will present a free golf club to the first 1500 new golfers in attendance of the event. Returning golfers interested in purchasing new equipment will have the opportunity to trade-in old clubs towards the purchase of new equipment at the Haggin Oaks Golf Super Shop.

Representatives from the NCGA, USGA and EWGA will be present to share membership information with attendees. Golf course superintendents from the Central, Northern California, and Sierra Nevada Chapters and State association will distribute free ball mark repair tools with handy instruction tips on proper use.
