Women's Texas Amateur: Match play rolls on
The Woodlands, TX (July 31, 2013) -- There was no shortage of excitement today in the second day of match play at the State Amateur. Taylor Slagle of Southlake defeated medalist Maggie Neece of Colleyville 4 and 3, while Christine Lin of Austin defeated Katy Kile of The Woodlands 4 and 2. The following players will advance to tomorrow's Quarterfinal Round: Taylor Slagle, Christine Lin, Jaqueline Strickland, Courtney Ferguson, Amy Ruengmateekhun, Hannah Arnold, Megan Thothong, and Taylor Stockton. The weather once again turned very hot very quickly at The Woodlands Country Club. However, the heat wasn't enough to stop Donna McDermott from making a hole in one on Hole #3. The Woodlands Country Club also happens to be Donna's home course. Quarterfinal matches will begin tomorrow morning at 8:00 with Flights 1-4 following immediately afterwards. Semifinal matches for all flights will begin just after lunch time tomorrow afternoon.

ABOUT THE Women's Texas Amateur

This Championship determines the best female amateur player in the state of Texas and provides an avenue for players to earn points for the USGA State Team Championship.

Qualifications: Resident of Texas or Texarkana for the last 6 months prior to the tournament. Individual or Club member of the WTGA. Must have a current USGA Handicap Index.

Format: One day Stroke Play qualifier for Match Play tournament. 32 contestants in the Championship Flight, 16 contestants in all other flights.

Field Size: Low 96 Handicap Index entries.
