Krsnich ahead at Kansas Match Play
MISSION HILLS, KS (July 23, 2013) — Former KU
golfer and Wichitan Pete Krsnich leads after
round one of the 103rd Kansas Amateur
Championship at Indian Hills Country Club.
Krsnich used a 4-under par 66 to snag the day
one lead. Fellow Wichita resident and current
KSU golfer Alex Carney trails by one after an
opening round 3-under par 67 in round one.
Future KSU golfer Connor Knabe of Leawood
carded a 2-under par 68.
Seven additional players broke par with 1-under
par 69's.
The projected cut following round one is 8-over
par 148 heading into round two.
The 2013 championship will continue on
Wednesday, July 24th with the second round of
stroke play qualifying. After 36-holes of stroke
play, the low 64 players will be seeded into a
single elimination match play bracket which will
begin on Thursday and run through Sunday.
This will be the third time that Indian Hills
Country Club has hosted the Kansas Amateur.
Previous years were 1985 and 2003.
Past Kansas Amateur champions entered into the
2013 championship are William Hess, Bryan
Norton, Corey Novascone and Sean Thayer.
Groupings and starting times for the stroke play
portion of the championship are now posted.

ABOUT THE Kansas Amateur
36 holes of individual stroke play qualifying to
determine low 64 players advancing to single
elimination match play bracket. Any player that is
not
exempt from regional qualifying must go through
one
of the five regional qualifying sites or the second
chance qualifier to advance to the championship.
Open
to any male amateur golfer with an active
USGA/GHIN
Handicap Index through a KGA member club.
