Tenn. Women's Open: Am Rees leads
CROSSVILLE, Tenn. (July 18, 2013) -- Corinna Rees of Nashville, TN fired a 70 (-2 under par) to finish at the top of the leaderboard after Round 1 of The Golf Capital of Tennessee Women’s Open in Crossville. Two birdies and two bogeys gave Rees an even par 36 for the front 9. She began the back 9 with a quick birdie to get back to under par. Rees then bogeyed 13, but answered with 2 more birdies on 14 & 15 to seal her 2 under par round of 70.
Defending champion, Lauren Stratton, shot a 78 (+6 over par) putting her T39. Haley Wilson of Alabama shot a 71 (-1 under par) to be in 2nd place, only one stroke behind Rees. The 2011 & 2013 Girls’ Junior Champion, Blakesly Warren, shot a 76 (+4 over par) which places her T22.
Round 2 begins tomorrow morning at 7:30am CST. There will be a cut after Round 2 to the low 60 and ties.
In 1999, the Women’s Open Championship was started at GreyStone Golf Club in Dickson. It was held there for 5 years before moving to The Bear Trace at Cumberland Mountain in Crossville for 5 years, and 2013 marks the 5th year at Stonehenge Golf Club in Crossville.

ABOUT THE Tennessee Women's Open
Eligibility: Entries are open to professional and
amateur female
golfers who meet the following requirements (1)
meet the USGA
policy on transgender individuals and (2) for amateur
participants,
have USGA Handicap Index of 7.0 or less for the
Open Division and
12.0 or less for the Senior Division from a USGA
recognized state
or regional golf association at the time of entry.
Senior Division
participants must be 50 years of age or older on the
first day of the
competition.
Field: 144 players with 96 positions are reserved for
the Open
Division and 48 positions are reserved for the Senior
Division.
Format: The Women's Open Open Division will be
contested at 54-
holes of stroke play. The field will be cut to the low
60 players and
ties after 36-holes. The Women's Open Senior
Division is contested
at 36-holes of stroke play without a cut.
Professionals and
amateurs in their respective divisions play from the
same yardage
