Kentucky Match Play: Deraney tops Brown
-- KY Golf Photo
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (July 18, 2013) -- The fact that the match was over after 13 holes might tell us a simple story but that would be incorrect.
Lexington’s Joe Deraney completed his journey to the top of the bracket with a win over Louisville’s David Brown with a 6&5 result.
The story includes magical saves by both players to halve several holes, some long putts made, some short putts missed but overall a well played competition to make the 2013 Kentucky State Match Play Championship an event to remember.
In the consolation final, Stephen Montgomery from Elizabethtown ousted his opponent, Louisville’s Corbin Sellers, on the last hole for a 1up victory.
