Calif. State Open: Negri low am after Round 1
BEUMONT, Calif. (July 15, 2013) -- Matthew Negri shot 2-under 70 and leads all amateurs at the 2013 California State Open at Morongo Golf Club.

Negri is tied for 23rd and trails first-round leader James Drew by six shots.

Kevin Lee, Scotland Schmidt, Jay Hwang and Sammy Cole are all tied for 34th after shooting 1-under 71 in Round 1.

ABOUT THE California State Open

The Championship will be a 72-hole stroke play tournament contested over four days. Following the conclusion of 36-holes, the field will be cut to the Top 60 players and ties. Championship is open to both Professionals and Amateurs. Amateurs must carry an index of 2.4 or below at the time of entry. Pre- qualifying required for non-exempt players.
